Denis Sazhin–Being a Captain for me means creating an amazing team, recognizing and supporting the unique potential of each player, forming a strong friendship bond within the team, and making the season truly memorable.* *not written by ChatGPT

Alex Evanciew–I’ve been in Gotham for 4 seasons, and 3 of those in D8. I want to give back to a community that has been so enjoyable and welcoming – and I think I’d be pretty good at it.

Kyle Svehla–I don’t know about you, but my favorite part of the week is spending time with my Gotham volleyball community. This season, I would love the opportunity to be a captain in D8. As a captain, I would love to lead a team that is full of good vibes, likes to have fun, and has high energy. I have no doubt we can bring that to the court! I can’t wait for another season of Gotham volleyball and look forward to playing with you all!

Raul Huezo–Howdy, howdy, howdy! I’m Raul and I would love to serve as a captain this Spring season! I’ve spent seven seasons with Gotham (D10, D8, Power D) and have loved every minute of it! Regardless of the outcome, I try to be a cheerleader and keep the vibe positive. My time on the court has been more than just scoring points; I see it as being a tight-knit crew that pushes each other to continue to get better. See you on the court!

Chris Bustamante–Being able to build friendships through volleyball has been such a huge aspect of my NYC experience. I’ve been a captain in the past and loved being able to curate a team that played well together both on and off the court. It’s such a great opportunity to give both established Gotham members and future Gotham members a fantastic season worth remembering.

Kevin Hickey–My D8 family is an integral part of my life. Everyone always comes together to create a competitive division. Like many of you, I get so much from Gotham, and captaining is a chance for me to give back both on and off the court.

Lloyd Fider–Having been a team captain now for many years, I have learned that serving as captain is more than just selecting players and putting together a team. It’s about providing an opportunity and space for players to enjoy the sport, meet people on and off the court, and build a community. After all, Gotham Volleyball is about building a community through the sport of volleyball. I will be honored to have this opportunity again next season as one of the 8 team captains.

Vinny Loke–Hey! I’m Vinny. I’ve been with Gotham since Spring 2019. Throughout the years, I’ve cherished my time in different divisions, with D8 holding a special spot in my heart. I value friendly competition both on and off the court, but the authentic team camaraderie is what I treasure most. As a prospective captain, my goal is to foster the same positive experiences within my team. Ultimately, it’s about having a good time, win or lose, but I aim to win. I eagerly anticipate the chance to lead as a captain and contribute to the team’s success.

Tyler Fields–MARSHA • SYLVIA • SYLVESTER Three seasons of legacy have filled me with love and gratitude for our community. I would love to continue to honor our past while making space for new legacies.

Mike Woronuk–Hey y’all I’ve been a captain in four other seasons. Always love keeping it positive on the court, having fun, and winning as a team. My favorite thing about captaining is bringing together a new group of people each season to slay on and off the court with! The worst part about captaining is the draft.. it’s literally so stressful for everyone involved!

Cory Zhou–Round 2 let’s go!

Jonny Hsieh–Gotham has provided me with such a strong source of community, support, and friendship in NYC, and I’m genuinely so thankful for the great experiences I’ve had in Gotham and in D8. I’m running for Captain in D8 because I want to ensure that others have an amazing experience in Gotham as well – both on and off the court. As a Captain, I’d love to help create an inclusive and welcoming space for others, foster friendships, and most importantly, make sure that everyone has fun! 💖
