Below, please find the profiles for all Captain Candidates for Division 11. The profiles are maintained in random order:
- Daniel Pazmino — After taking a season off I am hoping to come back to being a captain again. I love bringing people together through volleyball, whether it’s on the court or out being social as a team!
- CJ Chen — I’m interested in serving as captain because I believe captains are responsible to establish and nurture an encouraging and loving culture within the team, and is is only with positive energies can a team mature and improve. It fills my heart with joy to witness a group of individuals entering the season as strangers and coming out of it not only as a well-functioning team on the court totally in-sync, but also a group of trustworthy friends in life – it has been such a beautiful experience and I’d love to do it again.
- Will Tock — I have been a Captain before in Powerplay and currently in Div 11, as well as a player in Div 10 for three years, and I really love the camaraderie & social aspect of Gotham! Being a Captain this past year has been very fun as I love to plan team outings and mixers as well as help everyone grow their skills on the court!
- Jason Tirado-Adoniz — I’ve been playing in Gotham for 11 years, I have tons of experience and I really enjoy the sport of volleyball. I enjoy giving back to community and as a teacher, I think I’m good at helping the coaches to instruct my teams learn the basics. I have been a number of players’s first captain and it’s nice to know that as captain you have helped others along their volleyball journey. My favorite part about being captain is being able to bring friendships together and the weekly hangouts. If you vote for me, I’m willing to work my hardest to help continue this tradition. Oh and I love to cook. Especially Puerto Rican and Italian food! If you’re on my team, you’ll get a chance to try my homemade sauce and pastelillos!
- Jason Calomadre — I have been playing with Gotham since the fall of last year. I started in Powerplay and eventually played in Division 11. During that time, I learned valuable skills which I wish to cultivate. For this reason, I hope to serve as Captain this season because I want to share what I learned to help others develop their own skills and strengths. I imagine not only leading a team of remarkable players on the court but also showing them what a wonderful overall experience it is playing with Gotham.
- Marc Jenkinson — Spring 2020 will be my fourth Gotham season and I truly would be honored to be a captain. I believe I would be well suited for the role because I am dedicated to skillbuilding and deeply passionate about creating a safe, enjoyable space for others to learn. Gotham has given me this space to make new friends, to be my authentic self openly, to fall in love volleyball, and I’d love to be able to give back.
- Max Steinman — This will be my 4th season in Gotham and, if selected, my 3rd season as captain. I enjoy being able to create a safe place to learn new skills and meet great people – good team chemistry is the secret to winning. Through Gotham I’ve discovered a love for volleyball that I didn’t know I had and have really enjoyed the sense of community. Looking forward to another season and some fun team outings especially as the weather warms back up (the beach courts are calling!).
- Dennis Sz — Joining Gotham was one of those lucky decisions that turned out to be a game changer for a lot of aspects of my life. I am grateful for the experiences I’ve had, for the friends I’ve made, for the cheers we’ve shouted, for the wins and losses we’ve faced, for the support net we’ve built, for the countless hours of pure joy we’ve spent playing volleyball. My point of being a Captain is to try and make the same (or better!) things happen for someone else.
- George Fowler-Brady — I am currently a captain in the Fall season for Division 11. I really love the experience of leading, working with players, challenging myself, planning for games, working with coaches, and learning more about Volleyball. I feel like I have grown exponentially as a player and a person by being a captain. I also feel like I cultivated a supportive, fun and engaging team. I want to continue that in the next season and grow further as a leader, whilst helping players feel welcome and supported in volleyball.
