Q: Why are you interested in serving on the Board of Directors?

A: I was motivated by the challenge we face due to the COVID-19 emergency to run for re-election and continue to serve as President.  I am passionate about leading our organization through this difficult time. If re-elected, I believe I can provide the needed continuity of leadership to ensure that our Community emerges from the COVID-19 emergency strong and thriving.

Q: What qualities would you bring as a Gotham Leader and, in particular, to the Gotham Board of Directors?

A: If re-elected, I will use my leadership experience in Gotham and my professional experience as a manager to keep our leadership team organized and focused on our mission of building community. I want to continue to be a guide and a facilitator, helping and supporting other leaders as they make their contributions to leadership and to the Gotham community. I want to continue to foster an environment of inclusion in order to ensure that Gotham remains a diverse, friendly and welcoming place for the entire LGBTQ+ community.

Q: What do you wish to accomplish if elected?

A: We have accomplished a lot over the last two years, including creating a new Division of play, streamlining our tryout process, creating new Power offerings and growing our community-based volleyball and social activities at all levels. If re-elected, in addition to building on these successes, I want to help Gotham navigate the difficulties and challenges brought on by the COVID-19 emergency. I also want to do more to mentor and provide opportunities to less experienced leaders in order to ensure smooth succession to new leadership and ensure Gotham has quality leadership for years to come.

A:I am interested in continuing to serve and give back to an organization that has already given me so much. I am specifically interested in working on the Board as Secretary to continue working on the Governance piece of leadership for the league.

Q: What qualities would you bring as a Gotham Leader and, in particular, to the Gotham Board of Directors?

A:The best quality that I bring to the table is my ability to seek out and listen to a diverse variety of view points. As a leader in our organization it is equally as important to be a listener as it is to have my own vision for the future of the league. I have great note-taking skills and really nice hand writing 😉

Q: What do you wish to accomplish if elected?

A:My hope is to continue to move the organization forward, while listening to the needs and wants of our members.

Q: What do you think should be included in a 5-year plan for Gotham?

Q: What qualities would you bring as a Gotham Leader and, in particular, to the Gotham Board of Directors?

A:Through playing and volunteering I’ve been learning a lot about how Gotham works. And, in my day job, I’ve supported organizations going through various financial transitions including restructuring, zero-base budgeting, optimizing capital investments and managing cash during a crisis. Finally, I am committed to making the finances of Gotham transparent and accountable to the membership, while empowering other leaders to learn more about and contribute to running the finances of Gotham.

Q: What do you wish to accomplish if elected?

A: Gotham is financially healthy but at an inflection point: it wants to continue growing and it wants to become a 501(c)(3). Both require evolving how we plan, budget, operate and report. I hope to create that infrastructure for Gotham, while making the day-to-day less burdensome for volunteers.

Q: What do you think should be included in a 5-year plan for Gotham?

A:A LOT! Gotham should go ahead with the transition to 501(c)(3) and leverage that to further its community-building mission. That includes: strengthening its governance to 501(c)(3) standards, investing in infrastructure that allows growing without straining, simplifying processes and getting some help.

Q: What do you think should be included in a 5-year plan for Gotham?

A: The 5-year plan should include reaching 501c3 status as an organization. I would also like Gotham to have an established media presence where we can continue to scale socially and have a strong philanthropic reputation in the city. The greater presence and footprint we can have in the city, we can lead local initiatives in our neighborhoods. This, in turn, will drive greater visibility with our local government. We also need a presence on how to drive fundraising if we do reach a 501c3 status.
